About U NYC Partners With Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School To Launch First SAT Prep Program
January 13th – Harlem, NY – About U NYC is honored to announce a new partnership with Dr. Steve Perry and the Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School to deliver SAT preparatory courses!
About U NYC will expand Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School’s college-preparatory curriculum to include in-classroom SAT instructional classes during school hours. With this new course offering, Capital Prep is taking an innovative approach to college preparation for its students, giving them access to the same high-quality resources that wealthy and middle-class children utilize to gain admittance to the best colleges and universities in the country.
Dr. Steve Perry’s mission is simple - provide historically disadvantaged students with the college and career readiness skills needed to become responsible and engaged citizens for social justice. It is his belief that all children, regardless of zip code, have the ability to succeed in college and beyond. He reinforces this mission throughout his work in his schools and with school communities throughout the country. The program will run through May, meeting 3 times a week during school hours. In this pilot year, the scholars participating are a mix of 6-10th graders, and will continue to grow with demand and as the school adds additional grades.
